Ophthalmology CAD


In Ophthalmology CAD we group projects that involve image analysis of eye images, as eye fundus images and Optical Coherence Tomography eye images. The three main projects are RetinaCAD, SCREEN-DR and ChoroidCAD.

RetinaCAD is a software tool for the measurement of several biomarkers in the retina, namely the Central Retinal Arteriolar Equivalent (CRAE), the Central Retinal Venular Equivalent (CRVE) and the Arteriolar-to-Venular Ratio (AVR). Other geometric characteristics associated to bifurcations in the blood vessels are also evaluated. To calculate these biomarkers, RetinaCAD starts by identifying important landmarks in the retina, such as the blood vessels and the optic disk, classifies the arteries/veins and measures the claiber of the blood vessels.
